Draupadi Murmu is an Indian politician and the current Governor of Jharkhand, a state located in the eastern region of India. She was born on 20 June 1958 in Rairangpur, a small town in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, India. Murmu is a woman of many firsts – she was the first woman tribal MLA from Odisha and the first woman Governor of Jharkhand. Early Life and Education: Draupadi Murmu was born to Gobardhan Murmu and Gamay Murmu in a tribal family in Rairangpur, Odisha. Her parents were farmers, and Draupadi was the youngest of their six children. She completed her schooling from a local government school in Rairangpur and then went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Arts from Utkal University, Odisha.
